The national grid collapses, plunging Nigerians back into complete darkness

Customers of electricity distribution firms, or discos, have been informed of the development.Nigerians are once more without light as a result of the national grid failure on Monday, December 11, 2023, in the afternoon.At 1 pm, the system collapsed, resulting in a reduction of electricity from 4,032.80 megawatts to 43 megawatts.Due to the failure, electricity was further reduced to 303 megawatts at 5:00 pm. Customers of electricity distribution firms have received confirmation of the development.This is coming four months after the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced that the nation’s power grid had achieved uninterrupted stability for over 400 consecutive days. This is the second time the grid will collapse in 2023.
