Reps will look into the bold armed robbery of many banks in Otukpo

The House decided to form a committee to look into the robbery's immediate and long-term causes.The recent armed robbery in Otukpo, Benue, which resulted in the deaths of some police officers, will be looked into by the House of Representatives.This came after Rep. Blessing Onuh (PDP-Benye) won approval for a resolution of urgent public interest during the plenary on Tuesday.Onuh, who made the motion presentation, stated that the safety and wellbeing of the populace was the main goal of the administration. She claimed that on October 20, an armed group with about 20 members stormed the relatively quiet Benue town of Otukpo. The House unanimously condemned the robbery and the killing that took place during the incident and urged the police, Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to make effort to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of the robbery. The House also urged the government to, as a matter of urgency, deploy additional security agents to secure the town and its environs to prevent recurrence The House also agreed to set up a committee to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the robbery.
