Reps would take into account using concrete in Nigerian road construction

Alabi emphasized that the Committee had the authority to monitor the Ministry of Works and its parastatals agencies under Order 8 (B) Rule 109 of the House Rules.The use of concrete pavements for nation-wide road building is reportedly being considered by the House of Representatives Committee on Works.The Committee's Chairman, Rep. Akin Alabi, made this statement during the group's inaugural meeting on Thursday in Abuja. "The use of concrete may be considered and adopted by the committee for road construction against the use of asphalt which has led to the deplorable state of road infrastructure in the country," the man stated. He said that in order to ensure contracts for road building and rehabilitation, the committee will provide effective control of the Ministry of Works and its parastatals.
