FG and NUJ will work together on press freedom

Idris advised journalists to perform their jobs with patriotism and emphasized that freedom comes with responsibility. Alhaji Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, assured the populace on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, that the Federal Government was committed to press freedom and that it would work with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to create an environment that would allow journalists to flourish.During a visit by Dr. Chris Iziguzo, National President of NUJ, Minister Idris emphasized the critical part that journalists play in forming Nigeria's democracy. He emphasized the need for ethical journalism by saying that the Bola Tinubu administration vehemently opposes any kind of media control. "The Ministry of Information and National Orientation is the regulatory body of all those within the media industry in the country. I assure you that the ministry will continue to perform that oversight function for the benefit of all, because we are in this journey together.
