Senate confirms Yemi Cardoso to be CBN Governor, breaking news

The 11th Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria is Yemi Cardoso.Yemi Cardoso has been appointed as the Central Bank of Nigeria's substantive governor by the Senate.After being nominated by President Bola Tinubu earlier in September, Cardoso took over as acting governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, he appeared before the Senate to request confirmation of his appointment. The MPs quizzed him on a number of topics during his screening, including inflation, monetary and fiscal policy, foreign exchange, and how he would lead the CBN to expand Nigeria's economy. In response to inquiries about inflation, Cardoso pledged to take action and said that President Bola Tinubu's elimination of subsidies is one of the measures being taken to solve the problem.
