Economists are excited about Cardoso's appointment as CBN governor

According to Uwaleke, maintaining a permanent governor of the CBN is essential for the efficient conduct of monetary policy.The appointment of Dr. Olayemi Cardoso as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been hailed as a positive step by several economists.In separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday, they said that Cardoso was a skilled and competent banker who would do well in his new position. According to NAN, President Bola Tinubu gave his approval on Friday to Dr. Olayemi Cardoso's initial appointment as the new Governor of the CBN for a term of five years, pending Senate confirmation. Uche Uwaleke, Professor of Finance and Capital market at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, said that Cardoso was eminently qualified for the position.
