Former IGPs support Police officers must retire at age 65

According to the retired Police chiefs, NPF should promote inter-agency cooperation with other sister agencies through shared training initiatives and intelligence-sharing.The Committee of Retired Inspectors General of Police has recommended a retirement age of 65 and a duration of service requirement of 40 years for police officers.This was one of the resolutions made by the former I-Gs following their two-day retreat on Tuesday and Wednesday at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan. The recommendations are contained in the seven-point statement from the retreat that retired I-G Solomon Arase, the head of the Police Service Commission (PSC), released on Thursday in Ibadan. The retreat's topic was "Intervention of former I-Gs for strategic contribution to effective policing in Nigeria," according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
