Nasarawa State’s chief judge releases 57 awaiting-trial inmates

In order to ensure effective justice delivery, the top judge in Nasarawa State also cautioned judicial officials against engaging in corrupt behavior.Justice Aisha Bashir, the chief judge of Nasarawa State, announced on Wednesday that she had freed 57 prisoners from the state's five Federal Correctional Centers who were awaiting trial.When speaking with reporters at the Wamba Custodial Center in Nasarawa State's Wamba Local Government Area, Bashir made the statement. She claimed that during her regular visits to the Lafia, Wamba, Nasarawa Medium, Keffi Old, and Keffi Modern Custodial Centers, she freed individuals who had obtained their freedom. According to Bashir, the effort aimed to assess the cases of prisoners who were awaiting trial and to ensure justice. She explained that out of the number, 25 inmates were released from the Lafia Custodial Centre; eight from Wamba and nine from Nasarawa. She added that nine inmates were released from the Keffi Modern Custodial Centre, while six inmates were released from Keffi Old Custodial Centre.
