Waislitz Global Citizen Awards 2023 go to a Nigerian attorney and two Kenyans

The Waislitz Global Citizen Awards honor outstanding contributions made by individuals in the fight against extreme poverty and its underlying causes. Oluwafunke Adeoye, a human rights attorney from Nigeria, and two Kenyans were named winners of the 2023 Waislitz Global Citizen Awards.The prize is intended to motivate those battling issues including water and air pollution, child poverty, unstable infrastructure, and gender inequities in education within their local communities. Additionally, it serves as the motivation for the purpose to eradicate extreme poverty and enhance global living standards. After some personal run-ins with the law, including her father's arrest and detention for a crime he allegedly didn't commit, Adeoye formed Hope Behind Bars Africa.
