Tinubu did not want our consent to go to war with Niger – Senate

Tinubu, according to Akpabio, did not seek authorization from the Senate to invade the Niger Republic.Claims that President Bola Tinubu asked the Senate for approval to launch a military attack against the Niger Republic have been refuted by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. The President had reportedly written to the Senate on Friday, August 5, 2023, requesting their support for Nigeria's military intervention in the Niger Republic. This came as a result of extensive allegations about it. However, when describing the context of the President's letter, Akpabio claimed that Tinubu had just asked for the parliament's assistance in carrying out the ECOWAS resolution on the military involvement in the Niger Republic. On Saturday, August 5, 2023, he provided the clarifications during the plenary session.
