Falana backs labour on planned strike, protest; opposes FG's claim

Falana disputed the federal government's assertion that there was an active court order prohibiting the NLC from taking the desired move.Femi Falana, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and human rights lawyer, has given the go-ahead for the planned strike and demonstration that is scheduled to start on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, for the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and its affiliates. The esteemed attorney, who also serves as the organized labor's legal representative, claimed that no court in the land had ever issued a permanent order forbidding any Nigerian worker from taking part in the peaceful protests called for by the NLC. This came when Beatrice Jedy-Agba, the Solicitor-General of the Federation and the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Justice, asserted that organized Jedy-Agba warned that the labour movement would be disobeying an ex parte order of the National Industrial Court restraining it from going on strike.
