The Senate has blocked a motion to release Nnamdi Kanu
The motion to release Kanu was roundly rejected by MPs in the Senate's upper chamber.A proposal to compel the federal government to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was defeated in the Senate.The Senate resolution was passed during plenary on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, following a motion submitted by Senator Osita Izunaso, All Progressives Congress (Imo West), and co-sponsored by all other South-East senators. The resolution, titled 'Condemning the Disruptive Nature of Sit-at-Home Demonstrations in South-East Nigeria,' called for a stop to the sit-at-home nuisance ordered and enforced by gunmen in the area.
