Parents request the FG to reconsider the rise in school fees

A parent asked the government to redirect cash from fuel subsidies and other sources to the education sector because it was the only legacy it could leave to the people.Concerned parents of Unity College students across the country have urged the Federal Government to reconsider the abrupt rise in tuition for their children in order to make education more accessible to all.On Saturday in Lagos, the parents made the decision in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The Federal Government raised the fees for new pupils from N45,000 to N100,000 in a circular issued to principals of unity schools across the country and obtained by NAN. Mitchelle Uzor, a small business owner, told NAN that there was no way children of low income earners could afford such bills, considering the current economic reality in the country.
