INEC confirms postponement of governorship elections due to BVAS

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday, March 11, 2023, have been postponed. Following a meeting on the evening of Wednesday, March 8, 2023, the commission decided to assess how the reconfiguration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) affected its preparations for the upcoming election. The elections will now take place on Saturday, March 18, 2023, according to the announcement.
